Services: Reference

The Reference Division is responsible for responding to questions from the public, whether taken in person or by phone, mail, e-mail, or fax. Training of both staff and patrons in the use of the on-line catalog and Reference collection is a Reference responsibility. Review of the Reference collection and recommendation for new or updated materials is also a Reference Division task.

Magazines, Newspapers, Microforms : The Reference Division is responsible for maintaining these collections and recommending changes in the materials provided based on changing demand by our patrons.

Inter-Library Loan (ILL) : The bulk of ILL's work is locating materials for our patrons that are located in other libraries. Occasionally we will get a request from another library for an item in our collection which one of their patrons wishes to borrow.
Port Arthur History and Archives : Our collections of local and regional history, including a large collection of historic photographs, falls under the Reference Division.

Nuong Tran, Administrative Clerk, is Reference Assistant in charge of Inter-Library Loan and Periodicals.
